Best Practices for Search Configuration December 17, 2024 12:55 Updated Discover important tips to optimize your searches on STILINGUE Search Configuration is a necessary step to collect and categorize publications and interactions on social networks, which can then be viewed and analyzed within the platform. A successful Search Configuration ensures the quality of the data brought into your search, which is subsequently structured with the assistance of STILINGUE's Artificial Intelligence and displayed in graphs, dashboards, and customizable reports. To assist in this stage, we present to you best practices to optimize your Search Configuration and bring valuable insights to your daily routine: 1. Use network operators to gather data from competing pages in Listening Network operators bring the possibility of collection for specific pages and publications in the Open Sea (collection related to the spontaneous media environment, whether from the brand or competitors. This type of collection does not include Dark Posts). Currently, we have this capability for Facebook, Twitter , and YouTube. This feature allows the collection of posts from competing pages of your brand and serves to understand what is being said about your competitors and how they communicate on social media. With these operators, it is also possible to classify the collected posts into specific Themes. This means that you can include an operator in a Theme so that the related publication is properly classified. In this case, the range of social networks covered is broader; for more information, refer to the guide. Attention! The limit of network operators that can be registered varies according to the contracted plan. 2. Use Instagram Business Discovery to monitor third-party profiles Business Discovery is a feature that allows monitoring posts made by business or creator profiles on Instagram. You can check the details of this feature here. With Business Discovery properly configured, it will be possible to collect posts from third-party profiles on the platform, provided that you have at least one Social Network-owned page connected to your dashboard. Attention! This type of collection can bring all the posts from registered profiles, but this collection does not include the comments on the posts. 3. Add operators to classify proprietary posts/interactions in Listening. This tip is valuable for situations where you need to classify posts and interactions from your proprietary page into a Group or Theme of your Research Configuration. To do this, you can use network operators to classify these interactions. Check the list of operators below according to each network: Facebook Twitter YouTube Instagram and LinkedIn 4. What happens if I remove a Group from my Search configuration? In this case, the platform behaves in two ways: Save with reprocessing after Group removal: in this scenario, the posts will be removed from your dashboard, provided they are among the last 100,000 collected, as the Group in which they were collected no longer exists in the search. Save the search without reprocessing after the Group is removed: the posts will be retained in your Search Panel. To check the posts collected in removed Groups, apply a filter excluding all Groups: If you want a Group to stop collecting but keep the posts organized and available for verification through a filter, it is recommended to remove the terms from the Group and save without reprocessing. This way, only the collection will be discontinued, and it will still be possible to check previous posts through filters. Attention! The removal of a Group in your search configuration does not automatically result in the permanent deletion of posts collected by that Group. 5. What happens if I change the title of Groups and Themes? It is possible to edit the titles of Groups or Themes without losing the collected/classified publications. However, it is worth noting that changing the theme's name makes it inconsistent with the original ID, meaning that if there were descriptors matching previously collected publications, it might overwrite the current configuration. Therefore, publications may be incorrectly classified under those themes. To ensure that themes are correctly linked to descriptors, we recommend that when creating new themes or groups, avoid reusing names or content from old themes/groups. Reuse can compromise the classification of current publications. According to our product's rule, where themes use IDs for classification, this behavior is considered expected by the platform. 6. Negative terms in context It is possible to negate a term within the Context in your Search Configuration. This option serves to avoid the collection of publications that contain terms irrelevant to the analysis you wish to perform. By negating the term in the Context, the system will consider the entire search—meaning the undesired term will be disregarded across all Collection Groups and Classification Themes. Changing the theme name makes it inconsistent with the original ID. This means that if descriptors matched previously collected publications, they might override the current configuration. As a result, publications may be incorrectly classified under these themes. To ensure that themes are correctly linked to their descriptors, we recommend avoiding the reuse of names or content from old themes or groups when creating new ones. Reusing them may compromise the classification of current publications. According to our product's rules, where themes use IDs for classification, this behavior is considered expected by the platform. 7. Delimit collection in Groups with the help of operators In certain situations, you may encounter broad terms registered in your search, and you will likely collect publications outside your analysis scope. This collection can be controlled if you use operators that help define the limits of your search, such as the "context:" operator (which will relate collections to terms inserted in the Context). Other operators, like "exactly:" and &&, can be used to further refine your search.
