Authentication Alerts April 26, 2024 14:52 Updated Index: Introduction How to identify potential authentication failures? What to do to reconnect the page? Updating the token Introduction Understand the importance of this feature for maintaining your proprietary connections. To ensure that data from your proprietary channels is properly collected and updated, it's crucial to keep the connected pages within your research. STILINGUE provides an authentication alert in case this connection is compromised, allowing you to re-establish the link between pages when necessary. How to identify potential authentication failures? From the moment the tool's access is revoked within the social network, this causes an authentication failure. This behavior can be caused by various reasons, such as: The user who made the connection no longer has the necessary permission on the proprietary page. In the case of Facebook and Instagram, for example, having Admin permission is required for the process to be successful. The individual responsible for the connection has changed the password of the proprietary channel (or the password of the personal profile that made the connection). The access permission of STILINGUE to the owner's channel may have been removed or altered. Token expired access. In the case of Instagram, there might be a loss of connection between the Facebook page and the linked Instagram profile. For security, a new authentication may be requested due to any activity deemed suspicious by the social network. Note: the notification email informing you of the authentication failure is sent to the account's master user. If an authentication failure is detected on any of your proprietary pages, you will be notified through a message that appears as a pop-up in the bottom right corner of the screen: What to do to reconnect the page? To re-establish the connection of the proprietary page, you can click directly on the message ("click here") to be automatically redirected to the Proprietary Connections Management. After accessing the screen, the next step is to locate the page with authentication failure, which will be indicated by the presence of the triangular icon within the card. By passing the cursor through the icon, a Tooltip shows more details about the problem. In the case of Facebook and Instagram Business pages, you (or the connection manager) must have permission as an Admin on the proprietary page, the ads accounts (if any), and as an administrator or master of the STILINGUE account. If permissions are in order, there are two possible paths: The page only shows the triangular icon: you should remove the card, click on Add Connection to reconnect the page, and link it to a research dashboard to determine where proprietary interactions and posts will be collected. The page shows the triangular icon and refresh: in this case, you can authenticate the page by simply clicking on the refresh. Check if the card is active and linked to a survey. Please be attentive to any notifications indicating a page authentication correction failure. Note: the refresh icon appears only for Instagram and Facebook, the most common. For other networks, you need to reconnect by removing the card and adding it again. Updating the token The refresh symbol indicates when the channel token needs to be renewed (the tooltip also provides more information when you hover over it). The icon colors vary depending on the expiration date: Yellow: the token will expire in 15 days. Orange: the token will expire in 7 days. Red: the token will expire in 1 day or has already expired. When you click on the icon, the token will be renewed for another 90 days. It is important to note that for Facebook and Instagram Business, renewal must always be done by a user with administrator permissions in the STILINGUE account and the owner page.
