[Extension] How to integrate Braze with Blip October 02, 2026 18:24 Updated Introduction Features Prerequisites Installation and configuration Create the WhatsApp automation Configure the webhook in a Braze campaign Configure the webhook in a Braze Canvas Test sending Support Brief description: Send active WhatsApp messages from Braze campaigns and journeys by connecting the contacts in your Braze account to your bot's template triggers in Blip. IntroductionThe Braze extension integrates the Braze platform with Blip to send active WhatsApp messages from campaigns and Canvas journeys. Braze triggers a webhook that sends an approved WhatsApp template in Blip, and the template variables are filled with the contact's attributes in Braze. For example, when a contact enters an abandoned cart journey in Braze Canvas, Braze calls the extension's webhook, which sends an approved WhatsApp template and, if you want, places the contact directly into a flow in your bot to continue the conversation. Features Send active WhatsApp messages from Braze campaigns. Send active WhatsApp messages from Braze Canvas journeys. Trigger sending through the Braze webhook. Fill template variables with contact attributes in Braze (first name, last name, email, mobile phone, date of birth, and custom attributes). Support for templates with media variables and button variables. Place the contact in a specific bot and flow after sending. Supported channel: WhatsApp. Prerequisites An active Braze account with permission to create API keys, campaigns, Canvas journeys, and webhooks. A bot in Blip with a Router that has WhatsApp connected. At least one approved active WhatsApp message template in Blip. Installation and configurationInstall the extensionGo to Braze in Blip Store and install the extension on the bot that will send the messages. After installation, open the extension. The Settings screen is displayed.Generate the API token in BrazeNote: Braze menus may vary depending on your account version or permissions.Go to Braze and sign in to your account. In the side menu, open Settings (gear icon) and select APIs and Identifiers.Click Create API Key.Under API key name, enter a name for the key, such as Blip.Enable the permissions used by the integration: Catalogs, User Data, Purchases, Subscription, and Custom Attributes. Then click Create API key.Copy the token using the copy icon in the Identifier column.Attention: copy the token from the Identifier column and do not share this key or expose it in public documents.Copy the REST EndpointThe REST Endpoint corresponds to your Braze account instance. Identify your dashboard URL at the top of the page—the same URL you use to access Braze—for example, https://dashboard-07.braze.com. In the Braze documentation, find the REST Endpoint corresponding to your instance and copy it. Attention: use the REST Endpoint for the instance, such as https://rest.iad-01.braze.com, never the dashboard address.Activate the extension in Blip Return to the extension in Blip, on the Settings tab. Fill in the REST Endpoint and Token fields with your Braze account information. Click Save. The extension validates the connection to Braze and confirms the save. If the REST Endpoint or token is incorrect, it displays an error message. Create the WhatsApp automationIn the extension, go to WhatsApp Automation. The wizard has three steps: Configure bot, Configure message, and Install automation.Configure the botUnder Configure bot, select the Parent router bot with connected WhatsApp that will send the message and click Save and continue. Approved WhatsApp templates are loaded from this Router. If the warning "WhatsApp not recognized on this bot" appears, the selected Router does not have WhatsApp connected.Select the message templateUnder Configure message, click Select template and choose the approved active message template that will be used for sending. If the template has media, fill in the Media link field. If the template has a button, fill in the Button variable field. Template variables are filled with the contact's attributes in Braze, such as [first_name], [phone_number], and [custom.field] for custom attributes.Place the user in the botTo only notify the contact, leave Place user in bot disabled. To direct the contact to a point in the journey after sending, enable the option and select the destination Bot and Flow.Click Continue. The extension generates the webhook URL that you will use in Braze.Install the automation in BrazeUnder Install automation, choose how the webhook will be used: Campaign or Canvas. The extension displays the instructions and the URL to configure in Braze. Configure the webhook in a Braze campaign Go to your Braze account. In the Messaging menu, select Campaigns and create a campaign. Choose the Webhook channel. Scroll down and click Blank Template. Fill in Webhook URL with the link generated by the extension. For templates with dynamic variables, click Add New Body Property and, in the first Key, enter the variable number and the corresponding value. For example, in a template with one variable, use the contact's first-name attribute. Proceed to the next step and define the campaign audience and trigger. Activate the campaign. Configure the webhook in a Braze Canvas Go to your Braze account. In the Messaging menu, select Canvas and create the journey. At the point where you want to send the WhatsApp message, add a Message-type action under the Basic Components category. Select the Webhook channel and click Blank Template. Fill in Webhook URL with the link generated by the extension. For templates with dynamic variables, click Add New Body Property and enter the variable number and value in the first Key. Save the webhook by clicking Done. Activate the flow by clicking Launch Canvas. Test sendingBefore activating the campaign or Canvas, use the Test option at the top of the Braze screen, selecting an existing user or creating a sample user. Check that: the webhook returns a success response; the contact has a valid phone number in the attribute used by the automation; all template variables are filled in; the template is approved and active in Blip; the message reached the correct contact; the contact was placed in the bot as configured, when this option is enabled. Publish the campaign or Canvas only after validating the sending process. If you change the message template, review the automation configuration because the variables may change.
