[Extension] How to save conversation data to a Google Sheets spreadsheet in Blip October 26, 2026 13:19 Updated Introduction How to configure the action in the flow Points to note Support Brief description: Save the contact's name, phone number, email, and responses to a Google Sheets spreadsheet during the flow, building a lead database without relying on a complex integration. IntroductionCollecting data during customer service and then manually copying it to a spreadsheet takes time and causes leads to get lost along the way. With the Google Sheets extension, every time the contact passes through a point in the flow, you save a new row in the spreadsheet with the data already captured during the conversation: name, phone number, email, Social Security number, city, product of interest, or any response the contact has provided. The most common use case is lead generation. The bot asks for the data, and at the end, the extension records everything in a spreadsheet that serves as a basis for future contact and sales follow-up. To retrieve data that is already in the spreadsheet during the conversation, see the search-by-row and read-range pills. Before you beginMake sure you already have: The Google Sheets extension activated in the bot. Activate Google Sheets in Blip Store. Signed in with your Google account on the extension's Settings screen, with spreadsheet permissions granted (the extension requests access to Google Sheets the first time you sign in). The Builder browser extension installed. It adds the New integration button to Builder. The Install extension link appears on the extension's Settings screen, right after you sign in. A spreadsheet created in Google Sheets, with the columns in the order in which you want to save the data. The connected Google account must have edit permission for this spreadsheet. The flow variables that store the contact's data (for example, {{contact.name}}, {{contact.phone}}, {{contact.email}}) already populated before this point in the flow. Example of a spreadsheet structure, with one column for each piece of data you will save: How to configure the action in the flowThe integration runs as an exit action from a block. It is triggered when the contact leaves the block where you configured it, so position the block at the point in the flow where all data has already been collected. In Builder, open the flow and click New integration to add an integration block at the point where you want to save the data. Open the block and, on the Integration tab, select Google Sheets. In the Action field, choose Add new row. In Spreadsheet ID, enter the spreadsheet identifier. It is in the spreadsheet URL, between /d/ and /edit (for example, in docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vsSZCM3bsSfBj6Mkban8Oc_555V/edit, the ID is the highlighted section). In Range, enter the sheet and range where the row will be added, for example, Sheet1!A:E. The extension adds the new row after the last populated row in this range. Use Add column to create one field for each spreadsheet column. In 1st column value, 2nd column value, and so on, enter the value for each column in the same order as the spreadsheet. Use the flow variables, such as {{contact.name}} or {{contact.email}}. In Save response, enter the Result variable. It receives confirmation of the save (the number of populated cells), which helps verify that the row was saved. Publish the flow and run a test. Each time the contact passes through the block, the extension saves a new row in the spreadsheet with the conversation data. Points to note The connected Google account must have edit permission for the spreadsheet. Make sure the sheet name in the Range field matches the spreadsheet. Keep the column order fixed. If you change the spreadsheet structure after configuring the action, the values may be placed in the wrong column. Spreadsheets that reach the Google Sheets limit of 10 million cells stop accepting new rows. In this case, the save fails, and you need to free up space or use another spreadsheet. If a field arrives empty, check whether the corresponding variable was populated before the integration block. The extension works on any channel because the save takes place within the bot flow.
