[Extension] How to manually register contacts in Blip with the Contact Manager extension August 31, 2026 14:24 Updated Introduction What manual registration allows How to manually register a contact How to locate the registered contact Manual registration via Blip Desk Best practices Support Brief description: Register contacts one by one in the Contact Manager, directly in Blip, without relying on bulk import or integration, to include occasional customers in your bot’s database. IntroductionNot every contact addition justifies creating a spreadsheet or setting up an integration. When a customer gives you their number by phone or during an in-person service, you just need to register that contact immediately. The manual registration feature of the Contact Manager does this directly in Blip: you open the extension, fill in the customer’s details, and the contact is added to the bot’s database at that moment, available for search and other extension actions.Manual registration is available on all plans, including the free plan, and does not depend on import or integration. To add multiple contacts at once from a file, use bulk import. What manual registration allowsWith manual registration you can record: Standard fields: name, phone, email, city, and document. Custom fields, with names and values defined by you. Provide at least one of the following: name, phone, or email. Without one of these three, the registration cannot be completed.Supported on the following channels: all channels available on the Blip platform. Before you startBefore registering a contact, confirm that: The Contact Manager extension is installed on the service bot where the contact should be stored. The contact is created in the bot where the extension is installed. If you haven’t installed it yet, activate the Contact Manager on Blip Store. Your user has permission to save contacts in the bot. The contact does not already exist in the database to avoid duplicate records. How to manually register a contactAccess Blip and open the bot where the contact will be registered. In the bot’s extensions menu (three dots icon), click Contact Manager. The extension opens in the Contacts tab, showing the list of contacts in the database. On the initial screen of the Contacts tab, click Create contact. The New contact window opens for data entry.Fill in the contact’s details in the fields Name, Phone, Email, City, and Document. Provide at least one of Name, Phone, or Email. To add a custom field, type the field name in Field name and click the + icon. The field will appear in the list with space for the value. Fill in the value and repeat the process for each extra field. It is not possible to create two fields with the same name.Review the information and click Add. The contact will be added to the database and will appear at the top of the contacts list.Use standardized names for custom fields, especially when this data will be used in flow conditions, automations, or integrations. How to locate the registered contactUse the Search contacts field at the top of the list to confirm that the record was created. Search by name, phone, email, document, or contact ID. Click on the contact in the list to open their information. Manual registration via Blip DeskManually registering contacts through the extension in Blip is available on all plans, including the free one. Access to the extension inside Blip Desk, where the agent views and edits contacts during service, is part of paid plans (Pro and Enterprise). To enable this access, go to Settings, in the Blip Desk Settings section, and activate Enable contacts tab. In the options below, define whether the agent can modify contact data and perform actions on contacts. These settings must be done in the service bot. Best practices Search for the contact before registering to avoid duplicate records. Use phone numbers in the international format, such as 5531999999999. Verify email, phone, and document before saving, as these data are used in searches, messages, and automations. Standardize the names of custom fields and avoid different abbreviations for the same information. Use only updated and client-authorized information, following your operation’s privacy and data handling policies. To include many contacts at once, use bulk import instead of manual registration.
