How to use variables in response templates in Blip Desk

During the creation of a response template — preregistered messages to facilitate the work of the attendants at the Blip Desk —, it is possible to use variables to give more content to the content.

It is possible to use variables related to the contact being served and the attendant who is performing the service at the Blip Desk.

 

The contact variables that can be used are shown in the table below:

contact.name contact name
contact.address contact address
contact.city contact city
contact.email contact email
contact.source contact source
contact.phoneNumber contact phone number
contact.photoUrl contact photo URL
contact.cellPhoneNumber contact cellphone number
contact.gender contact gender
contact.timezone contact timezone related to GMT.
contact.culture contact future information (IETF format).
contact.extras A generic JSON to store pairs of strings (keys and values).
contact.identity contact identity. Format: name@domain.
contact.group Indicates the name of the group to which the user belongs.

 

* Note: Some channels do not provide any contact information other than their identifier, defined by the {{contact.identity}} variable. Make sure your bot has already collected all the information you want to use.

 

The attendant variables, which can be used, are shown in the table below:

agent.fullName agent name
agent.email agent email
agent.phoneNumber agent phone number
agent.identity agent identity. Format: name@domain.

 

Note: Make sure that the attendant has already filled in (on the Blip portal) all the information related to your account before using these variables.

 

Creating a response template with contact and attendant variables

Access the Service module of your bot and create a response template. In this example we will create a text response, but you can create responses with any type of content supported by the channel that your bot is using.

 

Before registering an answer it is necessary to create a category. To do this, click on the Create Category button and define a name for it. Create a response template now by defining a title and content.

Note: It is worth mentioning that in the Title there is a limit of 60 characters.

In this example, the ready-made response created refers to a standard message to greet users who request assistance from the bot.

 

From now on, the operator can use this answer within the Blip Desk, as shown in the image below:

 

Note that Blip changes the value of the variables before sending the message. In the image below we have an example of how the content reaches the end customer.
