Brief description: Upload files through Blip and generate a public URL to use images, videos, PDFs, and other files in Builder flows and your bot’s channels.

 

Introduction

The File Uploader extension, developed by Wiv, uploads files directly through the Blip platform and generates a public and stable URL for each file, without needing an external hosting service. You can use this URL anywhere in the Builder flow and in the bot’s channels, and it remains accessible via the same URL in subsequent uploads.

For example, when creating a flow in Builder that sends a PDF catalog, you upload the file in the extension, copy the generated public URL, and paste it into the content block. The file remains centralized in Blip, with no external storage to maintain.

 

Features

  • Upload files of any type, such as images, videos, PDFs, and documents, with the ability to send multiple files at once.

  • Paste images from the clipboard using Ctrl+V.

  • Generate a public URL for each file, accessible without authentication.

  • History of the last 10 uploads, showing the name, date, and size of each file.

  • Actions per file to copy the URL, open the URL, preview the file, and remove it from history.

  • Warning when a file exceeds WhatsApp size limits.

Supported on the following channels: all channels available on the Blip platform.

 

Installation and Configuration

  1. In the Blip platform, go to the Blip Store and open the File Uploader extension in the Blip Store.

  1. Click Install and select the bot where you want to use the extension. After installation, the extension appears in the bot's side menu, under the options menu (three dots).

How to Upload a File

  1. Open the File Uploader extension in the bot.

  2. Drag a file to the Select files to upload field or click the field to choose a file from your computer. For images, you can also paste from the clipboard using Ctrl+V. The extension uploads the file and shows a confirmation.

  1. After the upload is complete, the file appears in Recent uploads. Click Copy URL to copy the file’s public URL.

Manage Uploads

Each file in Recent uploads shows the name, upload date, and size, and offers the actions Copy URL, Preview file, Open URL, and Delete.

Click Delete to remove the file from the history. The extension removes the file from the list, but it remains hosted and the URL continues to work.

Click Preview file to open a preview within the extension, available for images, MP4 videos, PDF, JSON, and CSV files.

How to Use the URL in Builder

Copy the file URL from the extension.

Paste the URL into the desired block in Builder, such as in message sending, variables, or conditions.

  1. In Builder, add a video content block.

Points to Note

  • File Uploader hosts the file and generates the public URL. It does not automatically fill fields or variables in message templates.

  • Even if a WhatsApp template has been approved with a media header, such as image, video, or document, the file URL needs to be provided in each send. This is standard behavior from Meta.

  • The extension warns when a file exceeds WhatsApp size limits: 5 MB for images, 16 MB for videos, 16 MB for audio, and 100 MB for documents.

  • The Recent uploads section only shows the 10 most recent files. Earlier files are not removed from hosting and remain accessible via the URL generated at upload time.

  • Keep URLs in a safe place when files are reused in campaigns, templates, or future sends.

  • For mass sends, correctly fill in the media URL in the database or the file used for sending, according to the field configured in the integration.

  • Before sending, test the URL in an incognito browser window to confirm that the file is publicly accessible and does not require authentication.
