Getting Started Connecting your chatbot with WhatsApp is straightforward, but before you begin, you need to ensure that: You have access to a personal Facebook account with administrative permission on the Business Manager of your company's account. It is essential to use the same Business Manager that was used in previous implementations with Blip. You have access to the Blip Portal, where the chatbots and their flows are hosted. Your phone number has been registered on WABA (WhatsApp Business API) and the display name has been approved by Meta. Below, we will show the steps to complete this registration. You have a phone device connected to the number you want to activate on WhatsApp. This phone can be either a landline or a mobile phone and should be able to receive international calls. You do not have an active IVR (Interactive Voice Response) on the number you wish to activate during the activation process (you can deactivate the IVR during the process and reactivate it later). The number is not linked to the WhatsApp Business and Messenger free apps. If it is the case, unlink the number by deleting the accounts in these apps before proceeding with the process. How to register the activation of the additional number Now that you have confirmed the above items, let's go through the step-by-step process of registering and activating the additional number. The first step is to register the new number in your WhatsApp account on the Meta Business Manager. It is crucial to register it under the same WhatsApp account where the other company number(s) are already active. To access your WABA (WhatsApp account), log in to the Business Manager, select your company, and on the left menu, click on "WhatsApp Accounts". Then, select the WABA where the other company number(s) is already active and click on "Settings" in the middle of the page and then on "WhatsApp Manager" at the bottom of the page. A new tab will open in your browser. Click on the "Phone numbers" option on the left menu to ensure you are on the right path. After clicking on "Phone Numbers", you will be able to see the other company number(s) that are already active on the account. Now, click on "Add phone number" in the upper right corner. A small registration form will appear. When adding a phone number to your WhatsApp Business account on the Meta Business Manager, you must assign a display name to it. All display names must be related to the company and must not violate WhatsApp's commercial and business policies. The display names must comply with WhatsApp guidelines to send messages using the WhatsApp Business API or qualify for the official WhatsApp Business account badge. In addition to entering the display name, you must select the category that best fits your business, and if you wish, you can also enter the contact description for WhatsApp. Click on "Next". Next, you should provide the phone number you want to activate. If the phone number is 0800, enter the number without the first 0, for example, 800 270 1313. If it is a number without area code (DDD), such as 4004 or 3003, you should register the number with any area code. For example: 11 4004 5647. After clicking "Next", your number will be sent for analysis by the Meta team, who will check the chosen display name to confirm if it complies with the usage policies. Once you have registered your number and the display name on WABA, the Meta team will conduct a review, and if the chosen display name is approved, you will receive an email from Meta confirming that your display name has been approved or is ready for use. If the name is rejected, you can submit a new name for review or send us your new suggestion. To make a change to the display name, you should click on the pencil icon that appears next to the display name to edit, as shown in the image below: After making the changes, Facebook will conduct a new review, and you will receive a new status regarding the chosen name. You can modify the display name up to 2 times. If the name is rejected for the 3rd time, you will need to open a support ticket. But don't worry, if that becomes necessary, we can assist you; just reply to this email! Note: Even after registering, the number will still have a "Pending" status until the activation process below is completed. How to activate the additional number AAfter the approval of the display name, your number is ready to be activated on Blip. It is worth noting that there will be no trial period or conversation limitations on Blip. Implementing the chatbot on the new number Now that you have registered the number on WABA within the Business Manager and the display name has been approved, we can proceed with the step of implementing the chatbot on this number within the Blip Portal. Remember that during the implementation, it is necessary that: If your number is being used in the free WhatsApp applications, the current active WhatsApp account on the number should be deleted (simply uninstalling the app won't work) before activation. So it would be best to have a backup of relevant messages and contacts since it's not possible to migrate the app's history to Blip. If you prefer, you can perform the number change process directly in the WhatsApp application instead of deleting the account. The deletion/number change of the account can be done at the time of activation to avoid the number being offline for too long. Your bot must have a minimum structured flow with human fallback configured to be ready to receive user contacts after activation. The WhatsApp number you want to activate should be nearby, as you will need to receive a verification code on the number (via call or SMS). If you choose to receive the code via call and the number has an IVR enabled in the phone system, it should be disabled during the activation process. The first step is to log in to the Blip Portal and access the workspace of your company where the chatbot for this new number was created. Now, just follow the steps below to complete the activation. Performing the activation Now that you have checked the items above, let's go through the step-by-step activation process. Watch how to activate the number here: In the Blip Portal, select the chatbot for which you want to activate your number, and in the "Channels" tab, choose "Connect" in the WhatsApp card, and then click "Let's go" to start the activation flow. On the following screen, read the instructions and click "Connect to Facebook". Important: Keep this page open during the process. In the pop-up that appears, log in with your Facebook account that has administrative permission on the Business Manager of your company's account. Or click "Continue as..." if you are already logged in. Read the instructions on the screen and click "Start". In this step, you will see the details of the permissions you will be sharing with Blip regarding the management of your WhatsApp Business account. Click "Continue" to share billing and account permissions. Now you need to select your business Facebook account and your WhatsApp account, which were already created previously. Click "Next" to proceed to the next screen, and check if the data found matches the chosen Facebook Business Manager. Select your WhatsApp account and the phone number you previously registered, and whose display name has been approved by Meta. Then click "Next". Wait a few seconds for the account to be configured. Confirm if the number details are correct in this step. Now you can verify your number, meaning you will receive an authentication code on the selected number. Choose the desired verification method "SMS" or "Phone call" and click "Next" to continue. Confirm the received code and click "Next" to perform the number verification. If the number verification process is successful, you should see the following screen. Click "Finish" to go back to the previous screen and continue with the activation of your number. If you have completed all the previous steps successfully, the pop-up will close, and you will be directed to the number confirmation and PIN insertion screen. Through the "Number" field, select the phone number you want to activate, set a PIN (a 6-digit numerical code), and click "Activate number". Now, all you have to do is wait for the activation process, which may take up to 10 minutes. The screen will be automatically updated once the activation is completed. When your number is active, you can perform initial tests on your chatbot by sending a limited number of messages to a limited number of phone numbers. Learn more about these limits here. Finally, once your company's verification process is completed, the channel page on the Blip Portal will be updated, and your chatbot will be ready to be used on WhatsApp!
