How to Change Your WhatsApp Profile Picture

Keeping your WhatsApp profile picture always up to date is essential to convey credibility and reinforce your brand identity. This is one of the first impressions your customers have when contacting you through this channel, so it’s worth ensuring it aligns with how your company wants to present itself.

Updating the profile picture on WhatsApp is a simple process, but it depends on having the correct access to your Business Portfolio (also called Business Manager or BM) and your WABA.

Before you start:

  • You need to check your access level to the Business Portfolio and your WABA, as the procedure varies depending on this permission.

  • If you do not have administrative access, open a support ticket with Blip requesting the change. You will need to have your WhatsApp-connected bot ID, the corresponding phone number, and the new photo file on hand.

 

With Access to Business Manager and WABA

1. Access the Business Manager.
2. Select the WhatsApp Accounts menu:



3. Select the WABA where the number is active

4. Click on the WhatsApp Manager option in the lower right corner

5. Click the gear icon corresponding to the number for which you want to change the profile picture:

6. Select the Profile option, then click Choose File.

7. After uploading the file, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button:

Done, your new profile picture will now be visible when contacting your number on WhatsApp!

 

Without Access to Business Manager and WABA

No access to WABA? Request permission from your responsible team or contact support providing the information below:

  • ID of your WhatsApp-connected bot.

  • The number for which you want to change the profile picture.

  • The new profile picture, strictly following Meta’s parameters listed in the section below.

Tips and Best Practices

Meta’s parameters for profile pictures: It is important that the profile image meets these parameters to ensure a good result in Meta’s evaluation:

  • Accepted formats: JPG or PNG.

  • File size: maximum 5MB.

  • Minimum required resolution: 192x192 px.

  • Recommended resolution: 640x640 px.
