[Extension] How to delete contacts in Blip using the Contact Manager extension August 31, 2026 12:46 Updated Introduction How to find the contact How to delete the contact What happens when you delete a contact Best practices Support Brief description: Delete incorrect, duplicate, or invalid contacts using the Contact Manager to keep your bot’s database on Blip clean and up to date. IntroductionContacts registered with the wrong number, duplicates, or invalid entries clutter the bot’s database and interfere with your campaigns and customer service. With the Contact Manager, you can delete these records directly from the contacts tab without leaving Blip. For example, when you find a test contact in the database, locate it via search, click the trash icon, and confirm the deletion.Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, so double-check the contact’s information before completing the action. To add contacts instead of removing them, use bulk import or manual registration in the Contact Manager. Before you startDeletion is available in the contacts tab on Blip and, for agents, in Blip Desk. Check the prerequisites for the method you will use.In the contacts tab on Blip The Contact Manager extension activated in Blip Store and installed in the bot. Write permission to manage the bot’s contacts. In Blip DeskThe contacts tab enabled and the option Allow agent to perform actions on contacts activated in the Blip Desk extension settings. These settings are configured in the service bot.Note: the contacts tab in Blip Desk is only available in paid plans (Pro and Enterprise). How to find the contact Open the Contact Manager contacts tab. In Blip Desk, the agent accesses the Contacts extension; in Blip, open the extension’s contacts tab. In the Search contacts field, enter the contact’s ID, phone number, or email. To narrow the list, use Filter by tag. The list will show contacts matching the search. Select the desired contact. The contact’s details will appear in the side panel. How to delete the contactWith the contact selected, click the trash icon Delete contact. The extension will open a confirmation window.Read the warning "This contact will be permanently removed. This action cannot be undone." and click Confirm to delete or Cancel to abort. The extension will display the message "Contact successfully deleted." The contact will no longer appear in the search or list.Note: deletion is permanent. There is no way to restore the contact after confirmation, so verify the name and phone number before deleting. What happens when you delete a contact The contact is removed from the bot’s database. In a Router, it is also removed from linked bots. Open or pending tickets for the contact are closed and tagged as "Deleted". The contact’s context variables are erased. If the contact interacts with the bot again, a new registration may be created. Data stored in external systems, such as CRM or ERP, is not removed. Update those systems separately when necessary. Best practices Restrict contact deletion to authorized operation profiles. Verify the contact’s name and phone number before confirming and check for duplicates requiring the same action. In operations requiring auditing, record the reason for each deletion. Validate the impact on integrated systems. Deletion in the Contact Manager affects records within Blip; if your operation uses CRM, ERP, or other integrations, remove or update data in those systems separately. Before deleting personal data, comply with LGPD and your company’s internal data protection policies. Conduct a controlled test before enabling deletion for the entire team.
