[Extension] How to organize contacts by properties in Blip with the Contact Manager extension August 31, 2026 13:18 Updated Introduction How to add a property to a contact How to edit a property How to delete a property How to use properties in Blip Desk Best practices Support Brief description: Add custom properties to your bot’s contacts in Blip to record information that standard fields do not store and use this data in flows, campaigns, and integrations. IntroductionThe standard fields of a contact—name, email, phone, and document—do not store everything the operation needs to segment the base and personalize service. With the Contact Manager properties, you add custom fields to each bot contact, such as plan with the value Premium or city with the value São Paulo, and link this information to the registration. For example, when assisting a customer on WhatsApp, you open their record, register the property origin with the value January Campaign, and use this value to direct the contact through a flow, create a segmentation, or send the information to an integration. To add multiple contacts at once, use bulk import. To include one or a few contacts, use manual registration. Before you startCheck these prerequisites before creating or changing properties: The Contact Manager extension must be active on the bot whose contacts you want to manage. Activate the Contact Manager in the Blip Store. In service scenarios, install it on the Router. Your user needs permission to edit the bot’s contacts. Without this permission, properties appear but are locked for editing, and the Add property button is not displayed. Properties work for contacts from all channels available on the Blip platform. How to add a property to a contact1. Open the Contact ManagerAccess Blip, open the bot whose contacts you want to manage, and select Contact Manager from the extensions menu. The extension opens on the Contacts tab.2. Locate and open the contactIn the Search contacts field, search by the contact’s ID, phone number, or email. Click the result to open the record.3. Click Add propertyIn the contact panel, scroll down to the properties section, just below the fields Name, Email, Phone, and Document. Click Add property. A Property name field appears.4. Enter the property nameType the field name, for example city, and press Enter. The property is added to the list with a blank value. Use clear and consistent names to identify the purpose of each piece of information.5. Enter the property valueClick the newly created property to edit it, type the value, for example São Paulo, and click outside the field or press Enter. The change is saved automatically, and the property is linked to the contact. Check that the name and value are correct. How to edit a property Open the contact and locate the property in the list. Click the property value or the pencil icon next to it to edit it. Change the value and click outside the field or press Enter. The change is saved automatically. Attention: before changing a property used in flows, conditions, or integrations, confirm the impact of the change. A different value can alter the behavior of these automations. How to delete a property Open the contact and locate the property in the list. Click the trash can icon next to the property. A confirmation Attention! appears, warning that the property will be permanently removed and that the action cannot be undone. Click Confirm to delete the property from the contact. Attention: deletion permanently removes the contact’s value. Before deleting, check if the property is used in flows, reports, or integrations. How to use properties in Blip DeskYou can also manage properties through the contact panel in Blip Desk during service.Attention: the contact panel in Blip Desk is available only on paid plans (Pro and Enterprise). It must be enabled in the extension settings, with the option for the agent to edit contact data activated in the service bot.In Blip Desk, open the Contact Manager panel and click Add property. Enter the name and value the same way as in the Blip panel. To edit or delete a property, use the pencil icon or the trash can icon next to each field. Best practices Define in advance which properties the operation will use and keep the same name throughout the base. Use the same format for dates and statuses, for example always MM/DD for dates and always active or inactive for statuses. Before renaming or deleting a property, check if it is used in flows, conditions, reports, or integrations. Restrict editing and deleting properties to users with permission to manage contacts. Keep only necessary and authorized information, following your operation’s privacy and data handling policies.
