Introduction

Understand how to use variations of terms to diversify your monitoring. 

STILINGUE has developed a term suggestion mechanism to assist in your Search Configuration. This feature is available for the following languages: Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and allows you to access other terms - similar or related to those you have already included - to bring more possibilities for publication search. 

Within the descriptor suggestions, there are two options: related terms and inflections. In the first option, terms are suggested based on the interpretation of the word, providing more options regarding what a particular word "carries" in its context. For example, by entering the term "Brazil" and "politics," you can locate "president."

As for inflections, you will have suggestions of words focused on grammatical inflections. For instance, if you enter the term "house," one of the suggested options will be "little house," "big house," among other variations for the verb "to marry." This type of suggestion directly influences the word.

 



This feature assists in the research strategy by providing an expanded set of words without the need to search in other environments for associated terms. 

Check below the characteristics of each type of suggestion:

 

Related Terms 

The identification of terms is done through the database of publications collected by STILINGUE. Suggestions that are most associated with related terms - that is, words with very high frequency of association - are provided by the STILINGUE Artificial Intelligence. 

This feature is related to the descriptors entered in the fields Context, Groups, or Themes, and will consider for the suggestion the last two terms entered or only the last one (if there is only one or there are no suggestions for the last two terms entered). 

After insertion, the system will search for complementary terms that refer to the context in which the word is inserted. Suggestions will be shown every 10 terms, with the option to load another sequence of options or select all at once:

Inflections

When including a term in the Context, Groups, or Themes fields of your search, you can add grammatical inflections suggested by the STILINGUE Artificial Intelligence. 

This feature is based on the last entered descriptor. If the registered word belongs to more than one language, the results that appear in "Inflections" apply to both languages.

Once confirmed, the inflection will be visible in the same way as manually included terms. Whenever a new descriptor is added, suggestions will be reloaded to stay up-to-date:

 



Similar to Related Terms, you can also load "More suggestions" and "Restart suggestions." 

Note: It is important to emphasize that the priority for choosing the suggested descriptors in the survey is for nouns. However, if there are not enough nouns to fill the results, other grammatical classes will complete the results.

 

Operators 

In the case of terms accompanied by operators, the system will return inflections and related terms already with the operator, in addition to considering the added descriptor.
