Introduction

Boolean operators are part of the resource within STILINGUE that cancels terms in the search and combines more than one word at a time, helping to enrich search possibilities within your search.
To direct collection in groups or give more accuracy to a topic, we have the context and Boolean operators such as: &&, exactly:, -(not).

Operators

1 && (AND)

The “&&” symbol allows you to combine results that necessarily contain the two terms entered in the search. The terms can appear together in a sentence or separated on different lines of the text, they will be searched in the same way.

The “exactly:” operator has the function of differentiating words. This way it is possible to avoid confusion with similar terms, such as: “Pará” (State, starting with a capital letter and with an accent) and “para” (word with preposition function). This operator can also be activated by clicking on the term and selecting the corresponding option.

3- “-” (NOT) 

It is also possible to deny terms in your monitoring. Therefore, the collection will not include publications that contain the negative term.

Example: let's assume that your Group is monitoring Minas Gerais and its cities, but publications about Belo Horizonte are not relevant to the research. With the operator “-Belo Horizonte”, these publications will not be collected.

In the search configuration process, operators allow specific actions to be applied to their monitoring terms. You can choose not to collect certain terms, specify words that should be collected together, and other features in this area. Therefore, use the operators to your advantage and make your search even more assertive!
