Term Duel - Listening May 21, 2024 14:35 Updated Index: How to access How duel works How it works Navigation Display option Check and compare the most relevant and unique terms between two classes of publications The Term Duel allows you to analyze differences and similarities between two samples of publications in your research. With this functionality, you can: Set up two filters, either simple or advanced, for the duel; Identify, on the graph, which terms are exclusive to each filter and which ones they have in common; Identify the frequency and relevance of the term in the sample; Use the Zoom on the term, allowing you to navigate through the express report; Navigate through different display criteria. How to access Navigate through the side menu, within the Discoveries - WHAT They Are Talking About: You will have two options to configure your duel: the simple filters and the advanced filters. In the Simple Filters, you will determine which universes of publications will duel according to: channel, Group, Theme, and/or date range. With the Advanced Filters, you can use other possibilities of the Publications and Conversations filter to generate more insights. Important: Advanced filters allow organic and proprietary publications (from the pages included in the research) to be analyzed on the graph. In other words, you can compare the publications from Listening (Publications filter) with the interactions collected by the STILINGUE Smart Care module. This way, the filter becomes a more comprehensive resource and can offer various options for data cross-referencing. In the example below, we determine the battle of two samples: one collected by the Vegan Group and another by the Vegetarian Group. Once the terms are selected, just click "Duel!" How duel works With the parameters defined, the algorithm distributes the most exclusive and relevant terms of each class - as well as the more common terms between them - through a statistical calculation expressed in a graph. Visually, the extremes show the exclusive terms while the common terms appear in the center: How it works Note: Colors are also used to discern this differentiation, where the gradient (color transition) indicates the incidence of common terms in the center and the original colors at the ends to represent exclusive terms. Navigation Learn about the criteria of colors, relevance, and frequency that determine the characteristics of the chart. The Term Duel is an area of the STILINGUE platform that allows analyzing how two samples differ in their unique points and what points they have in common. By selecting two universes of publications, the Duel will identify unique and common terms in each. The result is a chart where the ends accommodate exclusive terms, and the center displays common terms. Navigating the chart The terms in the Duel are expressed in circles where the size represents the frequency in the sample: the larger the circle, the higher the volume of publications with that term. When hovering over the terms, the total volume is shown: In this example, the term Biodiversity B appears 365 times in the total sample, considering the two Duel filters. Another concept of navigation is relevance, which expresses how exclusive or common a term is. When this number approaches the frequency, the term is more exclusive. When relevance approaches 0, it means that the term is more common to both filters. In summary: Frequency: incidence of the term in the total sample. Relevance: a number that expresses the exclusivity (or lack thereof) of a term. Circle Diameter: volume of publications in the sample. Additionally, it is possible to navigate the term through Zoom and check the publications in the express report. Display option Check below the available options to modify the display format of the data: 1. Change colors Click on the upper corners of the chart next to the title of the selections to change the color of the circles representing each niche within the Duel. When selecting a color from one of the options, the gradient (color transition) will be updated. 2. Invert This option inverts the order of the classes that are dueling. Note that Filter 2 has been moved to the left side. 3. Grouping of similar terms With this option, the Duel will seek and group variations of the term, considering it as a unique expression. Note that, in this configuration, the corresponding circle will indicate which words have been included: 4. Overlay Overlays terms automatically to optimize visualization within the chart. In this option, you can check all the terms in the sample. 5. Viewing Mode Here you can choose the Gradient view - where each group is represented by a color - or by Themes. When you choose to view by Themes, terms classified under any of the Themes entered in your Search Configuration will appear in yellow. Gray terms indicate that they have not been classified. 6. Font Changes the font size of terms to aid in reading. 7. Navigation Icons With the options below, you can: 7.1 zoom in 7.2 zoom out 7.3 fit the chart to the screen Tip: If you need to highlight an important term within the Duel, select the Highlight option that appears in the card when clicking on the circle. The same card also allows accessing Zoom (to observe publications and information related to the term) or Hiding a term on the chart: For more information, visit the discussion on the subject at our community or videos on our channel. 😃 Related articles Open Sea Data Handling - YouTube Facebook - My Connections Managing Access Permissions TabMonitor Extension Themes
